Welcome...

...to Bruno Langley Fans, my website dedicated to British actor Bruno Langley. Bruno is best known for playing Todd Grimshaw for 3 years in Coronation Street, a role which he reprised for 12 episodes in 2007.

He has also starred in Doctor Who and Dalziel & Pascoe but, in recent years, has become more well-known for his theatre roles. Roles in Romeo & Juliet and A Taste Of Honey amongst others have earned him well deserved praise, and now this is continuing with a role in the nationwide tour of Flashdance The Musical.

You can keep regularly updated with all the latest on Bruno, right here on brunolangleyfans.co.uk! And if you wish to contact me about anything to do with the website, you can do so here!

CHILDREN IN NEED
Posted on 15 Nov 2008 by Laura
Bruno made a brief appearance on last night's Children In Need BBC television appeal with the rest of the cast of Flashdance.

The cast were performing in Cardiff, which was raising money for the charity by holding an event at the Wales Millennium Centre.

Hosted by John Barrowman and Gethin Jones, it also saw performances by the Stereophonics and Only Men Aloud.

Although the full Cardiff event wasn't televised, BBC1 did show a round-up of the event later on in the evening, and this included a clip of Flashdance.

They were performing What A Feeling and you could just see Bruno singing at the back before walking forward and joining co star Victoria Hamilton-Barritt at the front of the stage. Although it's only a brief clip, I thought you might like to see it if you didn't manage to catch it last night, so I have uploaded it to the multimedia page here.

The video starts by showing a little clip of Flashdance (Bruno isn't on stage at this point) and then moving on to show clips of other things that happened in Cardiff last night, with the music to What A Feeling playing over the top. The video then ends with another clip of Flashdance (with Bruno now on stage), showing the cast performing the last chorus before taking their bows.
REVIEWS FROM WALES
Posted on 12 Nov 2008 by Laura
The Flashdance juggernaut has reached the Millennium Centre in Cardiff this week and continues to get fairly good reviews smile

Wales Online praises the quality of the cast, saying that: "Victoria Hamilton-Barritt’s Alex, for example, is just as feisty as her screen counterpart, if not more so, and while Jimmy’s story isn’t in the original film, Bruno Langley brings his considerable acting talent to the part and makes him one of the star characters of the show."

And the South Wales Argus also praises the cast, saying that: "A star-studded cast, including Noel Sullivan (Hear’say) and Bruno Langley (Coronation Street) created a strong ensemble with some loveable characters shining through."
CHRISTOPHER MALCOLM: "BRUNO HAS REALLY DEVELOPED"
Posted on 08 Nov 2008 by Laura
There was an interesting interview with Flashdance star Noel Sullivan and producer Christopher Malcolm in the Oxford Mail yesterday. Noel and Christopher were in Oxford this week to officially launch the December run of Flashdance there, alongside choreographer Arlene Phillips and other stars from the show.

In yesterdays interview, Christopher says that they want to take the show to the West End now and that America is also interested in it! He also praises both Bruno and Noel, saying: "Bruno and Noel have really developed. They have a lot of talent."

You can read the full interview here.

THE PAUL O'GRADY SHOW - VIDEO
Posted on 30 Oct 2008 by Laura
Bruno appeared on the Paul O'Grady Show yesterday in what was a very good episode smile

Bruno was firstly interviewed, where he promoted Flashdance and also revealed how he forgot the lyrics to his song whilst he was on stage recently! He also talked about Coronation Street, with both Paul and fellow guest Amanda Redman praising him for the Todd storyline, and he also talked about fatherhood and his son Freddie, who is going through a bit of a naughty phase at the moment as he keeps hitting people! laughing I think there must be something in the name though as my nephew Freddie is exactly the same too! laughing

After his interview, there was a bit of a cooking segment, where Bruno, Amanda and Paul were taught all about food and cooking from genius chef Heston Blumenthal!

You can watch both the interview and cooking segment on the multimedia page here.

I have also uploaded lots of screencaps from the show, which you can see by clicking below...

Bruno was recently interviewed on Hayes Fm, where he chatted to presenter Jill Kenton about his role in Flashdance and his plans for the future, saying how he would love to do some more TV and film roles.

He also answered that all important question - who his favourite member of Girls Aloud is! laughing (Cheryl Cole!)

MORE PRAISE FOR BRUNO

Bruno keeps on getting well deserved praise for his role in Flashdance smile

A review in The Bolton News last month praised Bruno, Noel Sullivan and Ruthie Stephens for their "quality performances" and a review in the Edinburgh Evening News commented: "As for the veteran Bernie Nolan as Alex's mother, well, she just makes it look so easy, as does – surprisingly – ex-Corrie star Bruno Langley."

BRUNO "HAS NOW DEFIED ANY POTENTIAL DOUBTERS"
Posted on 24 Oct 2008 by Laura
Flashdance has reached Sunderland this week on its nationwide UK tour and there's a great review of it on the UK Theatre Network.

Bruno gets a particularly good review as reviewer Steve Burbridge writes: "Bruno Langley gave a fine performance as good-boy-gone-bad Jimmy Kaminsky. It is always difficult for actors who have achieved fame through soaps to be allowed to be taken seriously as versatile performers with genuine talent and ability. However, I believe that Bruno has now defied any potential doubters."

You can read the full review here.

Prior to Sunderland, the show visited Bradford a few weeks ago and was reviewed by stagebeauty.net, which gave the show a mixture of positive and negative comments.

Bruno comes out of the review very well though with the reviewer writing: "The biggest problem is that the main characters just don't really engage us enough. Consequently we end up being rather more involved with the back stories surrounding the much more interesting characters of Gloria and Jimmy than we are with the main thread about Alex and hum-drum Nick. And we can blame that in no small part on fantastic performances from Bruno Langley as Jimmy, and Ruthie Stevens as Gloria. Bruno is hugely underused in this piece given that he has a great voice never hinted at in his TV appearances."

You can read the full review here, although please note that it contains some major spoilers for the show.
