RYAN WANTS BRUNO RETURN
Posted on 30 Jun 2009 by Laura
In an interview with Digital Spy today, Bruno's former Corrie co star Ryan Thomas talks about his hopes that Bruno might reprise his role as Todd Grimshaw one day.

Interviewer Kris Green comments on the "great dynamic" Todd has with his brother Jason, played by Ryan, and asks whether he'd like to see Bruno back again. Ryan replies by saying: "I really do hope so. We were just talking about that before. I did mention it to Kim [Crowther] at a meeting to see if there was any chance, but I just don't think the time's right for Todd to be back yet. But eventually, fingers crossed, he'll return."

It's nice to know that Bruno and Todd are still very highly thought of on the Corrie set! smile

So make sure you keep visiting the site - I'll be properly updating it soon, I promise smile
FLASHDANCE FINISHES ON A HIGH
Posted on 18 May 2009 by Laura
After 10 months on the road with Flashdance The Musical, Bruno finally finished in the show on Saturday as its UK tour came to a triumphant end, having received rave reviews from fans and critics alike.

It sounds like the performances on Saturday were a lot of fun too, with jokes and pranks aplenty as the cast celebrated their successful run in the show! laughing

It's expected that the show will eventually transfer to the West End, although whether Bruno will want to carry on with it remains to be seen (after 10 months of doing the same show, he might prefer to do something new!! laughing )....but hopefully it won't be too much longer before we get to see him back on stage/screen, whether it be in Flashdance or something else smile
HEAT MAGAZINE
Posted on 06 May 2009 by Laura
Bruno is featured in a 15-page 'where are they now' special in the new issue of Heat magazine.

In a page entitled 'life after soap', the magazine features a number of big TV favourites and asks the question: what are they up to now?

About Bruno, Heat writes: "As Todd Grimshaw, Bruno made Corrie history by sharing the soap's first gay kiss with Adam Rickett. He left the Street in 2004 and went on to appear in Doctor Who. He also had a small role in the movie The League Of Gentlemen's Apocalypse and has starred in various plays across the country. Between jobs, Bruno has worked as a barman in Manchester. Now 26, he's currently on tour in Flashdance The Musical, alongside Noel Sullivan from Hear'Say. He lives with long-term girlfriend Victoria and their two-year-old-son Freddie."

I thought it was a bit strange for them to feature Bruno though as it's not like he's ever really disappeared laughing but it was a nice surprise to see him in there anyway though!!

In the meantime, Bruno's Flashdance co-star Aaron Renfree updated his official twitter page yesterday to say that he was going to be performing as Jimmy last night. He also posted a photo of himself as Jimmy if you're curious to know what he looks like in the role! Hopefully Bruno's okay and it's nothing too serious though - fingers crossed he will be back on stage soon smile

FLASHDANCE MINI-REVIEW
Posted on 27 Apr 2009 by Laura
There was a review last week in the Denbighshire Free Press, referring to the run of Flashdance in Rhyll. Bruno again received high praise, with the reviewer commenting on his voice and how he can really sing smile Read the review in full here.

In the meantime, I went to see Flashdance myself for the third time on Saturday smile As it was on in Ipswich, which is 19 minutes away from me, I thought it would be rude not to go seeing as it's so close!! laughing

I won't be posting up a full length review this time as I don't really have anything much to add that I haven't written about in my previous reviews - so I hope a very mini-review will suffice! laughing

Unfortunately, we were a bit late arriving in Ipswich on Saturday and so we missed the opportunity to see Bruno arrive and hopefully have a bit of a chat with him sad so we headed off to do some shopping before the start of the show instead! laughing

The show was fantastic as usual, although I must admit that the end audition scene was a bit of an anti-climax, having now seen Robert Webb's hilarious and brilliant Flashdance homage! wassat Still fab though - just not as good as Mr Webb wink We had a great view from the front row, although I was a bit worried about whether they would be able to fit the set into the theatre as the stage is quite small but they seemed to manage it - just!

The show was the same as I last saw it in Nottingham in January, although I did notice one possible addition. During the song 'New Economy' in the second act, I noticed that Bruno, as Jimmy, came on stage with a cigarette pressed up against his lips - which was then snatched away and flicked across the stage by Michael Conway, as CC La Drue. I don't recall seeing this in Nottingham or in Manchester and I've spoken to others who don't seem to remember this either, so it looks like they've made a minor alteration to this scene.

Anyway, Bruno was as wonderful as ever and gave the best performance I've seen him give in the show - this was definitely his strongest performance out of the three times I have seen him in Flashdance. It's been absolutely fantastic to have had the opportunity to see him performing three times in the same show over the course of seven months. It's given me the chance to see how much he has evolved and grown as a musical theatre performer during that time - he's just got better and better with each performance I have seen and you can see how much he is learning and growing as a performer.

All the cast are absolutely fantastic though and seem to be having just as much fun now as they were when they first started all those months ago! They all seemed in good spirits during the finale reprise of What A Feeling (especially Bruno, who seemed to have added a new "dance move" at the end! laughing ), although it's hard to believe that they only have 3 more weeks to go!

I've had an absolutely brilliant time at the three shows I have seen - the show really is fantastic and the cast are amazing! So I'm sad that it's over for me now sad Although I do wonder how plausible it would be for me to get to High Wycombe in 3 weeks time, hmn..... wink

For now though, the show is over for me....but I can't wait to see what Bruno does next! smile

BRUNO TALKS FLASHDANCE, ACTING AND MORE
Posted on 06 Apr 2009 by Laura
Flashdance begins a week long run in Bristol tomorrow and, ahead of this, Bruno was recently interviewed in Bristol's Evening Post newspaper to promote the show.

This fantastic interview sees Bruno talk about why Flashdance is the first musical theatre role he has accepted, despite receiving many other offers. He says: "I have been offered a lot of musical theatre work, but this is the one that stood out to me. The others were just filling a role that someone else had left – just retracing their footsteps. But this is a brand new show and it gives me a chance to put my stamp on it. I get to be creative, which for me is what performing is all about."

He also reveals how he manages to keep his sanity despite performing in the same show for almost a year. He says: "I've just been reading an acting book about the challenges of keeping things fresh when you've been doing a long run. You have to get out there and just pretend that it's the first time you have ever said those lines. It's hard, but it helps that we have a great, fun cast and an energetic, upbeat show. If I was doing a depressing play for this long I'd have gone mad.

And about his acting future, he says that he wants to give musicals a miss for a while after finishing in Flashdance and he wants to try new things, adding that Coronation Street is in the past for him now.
