Bruno's reading of the book Horace is being repeated on The Big Toe radio show on BBC7 from today between 4-6pm. You can listen to the show live on the Big Toe website, or on BBC7's website.
Bruno's reading of Horace was first broadcast in 9 parts back in August 2005 and he does a wonderful job of reading it out, even putting on accents for each of the many characters! If you miss the repeat on BBC7 though, don't worry- all 9 parts of the story can be found on this very site, on the multimedia page!
Thanks to Ian, we've got a scan of a picture of Bruno that was recently featured in the Evening Chronicle. The picture shows Bruno and his Digging For Treasure co stars on set. See the picture by clicking on the thumbnail below:
The Metro newspaper recently did a feature on big name actors who have starred in Doctor Who. Bruno gets a mention as one of the big name stars, along with Catherine Tate, Sarah Parish, Peter Kay and Simon Callow. As well as briefly mentioning a bit about Bruno's character Adam Mitchell, the article also includes a quote from Bruno: "I watched a lot of Terminator movies when I was growing up! And I have scenes with the Daleks where it's chasing me and won't stop. It's the kind of thing I used to dream about!"
More information has been revealed about Bruno's new project by The Evening Chronicle. According to this article, the script is called Digging For Treasure and Bruno stars in a supporting role as Mikey, the brother to the lead character Danny.
Danny is a man tortured by his past and living in denial and is played by Gary Cargill, who is familiar to current viewers of Coronation Street as DS Paul Campbell.
Digging For Treasure was written by Evening Chronicle reporter Jamie Diffley and is one of three winning entries for a competition run by TAPS, a charitable organisation aimed at helping new writers. The TAPS website states that selected scripts are rehearsed and recorded in a television studio, edited, and then screened to an audience of industry professionals, so it doesn't sound too hopeful that it will actually be broadcast for the public. However, the website also states that TAPS writers have received hundreds of commissions on network television and so fingers crossed that one of the industry professionals will be interested in screening it!
A journalist on the Newcastle Evening Chronicle has reported that he has won a competition to write a script, which is going to star our very own Bruno! Jamie Diffley writes that the script is being filmed at the studio where they film ITV1 soap Emmerdale and, as well as Bruno, it will also star actors from channel 4 programmes Shameless and Max & Paddy. Mr Diffley mentions trying to impress Bruno, and also how the girls in the pub would call him Todd or Toddie! Bruno was spotted filming something in Leeds a couple of weeks ago, so presumably this is what he was filming for. Hopefully we will hear more information on this soon!
Bruno's two part episode of Dalziel & Pascoe is being repeated in its entirety on UKTV Gold from 9pm-11.25pm on Sunday 28th January. This episode was first broadcast on 3rd and 4th April last year so if you missed it, or want to see it again, then Sunday's your chance to do so!
Congratulations to Antony Cotton, who won Soapstar Superstar at the weekend, after wowing viewers and judges with his renditions of Mad World and Daniel, as well as a reprise of Copacabana. Unfortunately, Bruno wasn't at the final, but I have added a few more screencaps of him at last Tuesday's show, which might be of a slightly better quality than the previous ones I added (only slightly though!!). You can see the new caps in the gallery here.
Bruno was in the audience of Soapstar Superstar last night, to support his friend and former Corrie co star Antony Cotton, who is taking part in the show.
Soapstar Superstar is a singing competition on ITV1 where a group of actors from various soaps perform to impress the judges and viewers at home. Bruno was sat next to his Corrie on screen mum Sue Cleaver and her real life son, and seemed to be enjoying the show! It must have been like a mini Corrie reunion for him as sitting behind him were Andrew Whyment (Kirk), Sam Aston (Chesney) and Wendi Peters (Cilla), and sitting in front of him was Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley)!
Antony was very well supported throughout his brilliant performance of Copacabana, as was fellow Corrie star Tupele Dorgu, who is also performing in the competition. I have added a video of Bruno's Soapstar Superstar appearance to the multimedia page, and I have also added some screencaps to the gallery, which you can view by clicking on the thumbnail below:
Happy New Year! I hope all your hopes, wishes and dreams come true in 2007!
In the meantime, you may have noticed that the site has a slightly new layout- hope you like it! I've also added a January 2007 Bruno calendar, which you can see here- you can have it as the desktop on your computer, or print it out. I'll be adding other calendar pages monthly.
