"I Went Home & Cried!"
Bruno Langley, who plays Todd in Corrie, has had a tough time with the soap's traumatic storylines...
"Having had such a big part to play in Coronation Street over the past few months has been great - but phew, I'm so tired! The storylines involving Todd, Sarah Lou and Carl have been incredibly draining. When you're an actor, you take on these storylines and they're really challenging and brilliant for your career, but they can depress you, too. After a whole day of filming those scenes with Tina O'Brien, who plays Sarah Lou, I'd go home and cry! You can't help but be affected by all them - you'd be pretty inhuman if you weren't!
Emotional scenes
"The gay scenes we're quite difficult to film. When you're spending a whole day crying and dragging out all that emotional stuff, it's really tiring. But you have to work through it and keep going. Leaving the set and hearing people shouting stuff in the street was a bit weird. I suppose you have to forgive people - they've grown up with Corrie being part of their lives. Having said that, though, it's quite sad that they can't separate fiction from reality!
Sensitive treatment
"The funeral scenes for Todd and Sarah Lou's child were traumatic - they really got to both of us. When I saw that little coffin come out, I couldn't help but feel upset. You've got to appreciate that people really have to face those kind of terrible situations, and you have to approach the scenes in a sensitive way.
Taking a break
"The producers and crew were absolutely fantastic! They knew how much pressure we > were under and how draining it was for us. I think they knew that I'd need a holiday after all that. I bought a flat back in December and I hadn't had a chance to do anything with it, as I' been so busy working, it was nice to have some time off to relax and start sorting things out.
Moving on!
"It was completely my decision to leave the show in September, whatever you've read in the newspapers! I've had some amazing storylines in Corrie, and I wouldn't change my time here for the world, but it's time for me to move on. There are loads of exciting things in the pipeline, but it's all a bit secret at the moment. I'd definitely like to star in a movie! Whatever comes up, it'll be a great new challenge. But I know that if I hadn't been in Corrie, I'd never have these opportunities!"
