Bruno's Role
Calendar Girls is based on the true story of a group of Yorkshire women from the Woman's Institute who, following the death of one of their husband's from cancer, produced a nude calendar to raise money for Leukaemia Research in April 1999.
Their story was turned into a film in 2003, which starred Helen Mirren and Julie Walters, and then adapted into a stage play in 2008. The play was performed to sell-out audiences in the West End, before embarking on a nationwide tour of the UK.
The touring cast changes every couple of months or so - Bruno will be starring in the show as part of the July to October 2010 cast.
He will be playing the part of Lawrence, the photographer who is employed to take photos of the women for the calendar.

Reviews
"...Jennifer Ellison, whose younger years had until that point looked a little out of place, came into her own in the part of Celia, working the camera and leaving the photographer, played by former Coronation Street actor Bruno Langley, speechless as the audience howled at her moment in the spotlight..." (STV - Glasgow) | Full Review
"...sensational performances, a side-splitting script despite a sombre issue, and a dollop of drama made the rapturous applause and lengthy standing ovation not only deserved, but an inevitability..." (Rhyl Journal - Llandudno) | Full Review
"...based on a true story, Calendar Girls is funny, thought provoking and quite endearing, and the spirit of the amazing original women shines through. It's obvious to all that the actors on stage are truly enjoying themselves as they throw themselves into the story with gusto..." (Daily Post - Llandudno) | Full Review
"...part of the charm of this production is that it doesn't stray too far into slapstick, always reining it in at the right moment and reminding us that the story has a tragic core..." (South Wales Evening Post - Cardiff) | Full Review
"...here is plenty of humour, the characters are warm, and their ups and downs very real..." (South Wales Echo - Cardiff) | Full Review
"...based on the heart-warming true story, which saw Women’s Institute members bare all for a charity calendar in memory of a friend, Calendar Girls will have you laughing and crying from beginning to end..." (South Wales Argus - Cardiff) | Full Review
"...the scene in which they strip is cleverly executed as the women use strategic props, like marmalade jars and balls of wool, to cover their modesty..." (Western Mail - Cardiff) | Full Review
