    Bruno's Role

Bruno made a very brief appearance in award winning soap opera Coronation Street on 4th August 2000 as Candice's boyfriend Darren Michaels. He didn't have any lines to say, although Bruno decided to adlib a hello in order to get himself noticed!

It obviously worked though as he was soon back in Corrie, playing the part of sexually confused Todd Grimshaw, a part which he played for nearly four years. During his time on the show, Bruno helped it achieve record ratings, particularly during the love triangle between Todd, Karl and Sarah, which culminated in Todd realising he was gay. It’s this storyline that has been widely attributed as to being the main reason why Corrie had such a phenomenally successful year in 2004. The year was completed by Corrie winning Best Drama at the highly prestigious South Bank Awards and it has since been stated many times that it was the very critically acclaimed Todd storyline that won this award for the soap.

Despite no longer living in Weatherfield, however, Todd is still regularly mentioned, and his photo even takes pride of place in Eileen's living room.
